About Our Company

About Ottawa Roofing Pros, an Ottawa Roofing Company

Ottawa Roofing Pros is a roofing company based in Centretown that installs, replaces and repairs residential and commercial roofs across Ottawa. Roofing is the only trade we practise, which is why our crews know the difference between a failed step flashing and a condensation problem in the attic.

We bring more than 17 years of roofing experience and over 1,500 completed jobs to every quote. That range runs from single-shingle repairs on Nepean bungalows to full membrane replacements on low-rise commercial buildings.

This page explains how we run, who works on your roof, and which of our credentials you can check for yourself.

Who We Are and How We Started

We are a roofing specialist, not a general renovator that also does roofs. For more than 17 years we have stayed with one trade and the systems that keep a roof working: flashing, ventilation, eavestroughs and attic insulation.

Ottawa is a demanding place to learn the trade. Roofs here carry heavy snow, cycle through freeze and thaw all winter, and grow ice dams on any eave with a warm attic behind it.

That climate shaped how we work. We look at the whole roof system on every call, because a leak at the eave is often an attic ventilation or insulation problem showing up as a shingle problem.

Today our office sits on McLeod Street in Centretown, which keeps us central to every part of the city. We serve homeowners, landlords, condo corporations and commercial owners, and we answer the phone 24/7.

The Crew That Shows Up on Your Roof

The people on your roof are roofers, trained for the specific system on your quote, whether that is architectural shingles, steel panels or a torch-applied membrane. Each job has a lead hand on site who knows the scope, answers your questions during the day and walks the finished roof with you.

Our crews follow the same routine on every job. They protect gardens, siding and windows before tear-off, remove only as much roof as can be dried in the same day, and finish with a magnetic sweep of the yard and driveway.

They also know what to look for under the old shingles. Soft decking, missing eave protection, undersized vents and poorly lapped flashing are documented with photos so you see what we see before anything changes on your quote.

Training, Safety and Certifications

Every roofer we send to a job site holds working-at-heights training, which Ontario has required for roofing work since April 1, 2017. On the roof, our crews use fall arrest equipment, guardrails or other fall protection that Ontario's construction regulations require, and they set up ladders and material hoists before anyone starts tearing off.

Ontario does not license roofing contractors provincially, which is why the province's guide to hiring a roofer tells homeowners to check references, training and contracts themselves. The trade does have a voluntary Red Seal credential, the Skilled Trades Ontario Roofer (449A) certificate, earned through about 4,000 hours of apprenticeship and an exam.

Insurance and WSIB Coverage

We carry liability insurance and are registered with the WSIB, the Workplace Safety and Insurance Board that covers workers injured on the job. If a worker without coverage is hurt on your property, the liability can land on you.

Any property owner can check a contractor's standing through the WSIB's clearance certificate service. We encourage clients, and especially property managers, to request ours before work starts.

Manufacturer Certifications

We install products from established manufacturers, including IKO, GAF, CertainTeed and Owens Corning shingles, steel roofing panels, and single-ply and modified bitumen membranes for commercial roofs.

Manufacturer warranties beyond the standard product warranty can depend on installer program enrolment and product registration. Your quote names the exact products and explains which manufacturer coverage applies to them.

Industry Associations

Associations such as the Canadian Roofing Contractors Association (CRCA) and the Ontario Industrial Roofing Contractors Association (OIRCA) set technical standards for the trade. Membership is worth asking any roofer about, alongside the things you can verify directly.

For us, the proof that matters most is on paper: a WSIB clearance, an insurance certificate, a written contract and a written warranty. Our roofing warranty page sets out exactly what our labour warranty covers.

Projects by the Numbers

Our track record comes down to a few figures we use consistently, on this page and everywhere else.
